Water and Food Aid for Zimbabwe
In spite of a gradually calming political environment, the food and water situation still has a long way to go on the road to recovery. On the 21st of April, the World Health Organization reports that since the cholera outbreak in August last year the disease has infected 97.000 people and already 4.233 have lost their lives.
In order to mitigate the threat of cholera infection we have already distributed 20.000 sachets of water purification chemicals, providing 400.000 litres of clean drinking water. In addition, Helping Hands Africa, together with the Church of the Nazarene was able to bring food relief to 2.000 families in the form of maize, sugar beans, cooking oil and sugar. Many of the families had their first decent meal in months. Mothers were very happy and the children had smiles on their faces. |
